A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of a flat and three land plots totaling 18 kathas in Uttara, linked to former DMP Additional Commissioner and ex-DB chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid. The order was issued by Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib on Thursday (April 24), following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Zainal Abedin filed the petition, citing ongoing investigations into Harun’s alleged accumulation of hundreds of crores in unexplained wealth both in Bangladesh and abroad.
The seized assets include three separate plots and a 1,570 sq ft flat located in Uttara’s Sector 10. The ACC claims Harun is attempting to transfer or sell these properties amid the probe, prompting the request for asset freezing to ensure a fair investigation.
Previously, on February 19, the court had already ordered the seizure of five buildings, two flats, and 100 bighas of land in his name. It also froze over Tk 1.26 crore across 10 bank accounts. Additionally, the court ordered the seizure of 30 bighas of land, 11 bank accounts, and shares in three companies belonging to his brother, ABM Shahriar.
