Protests Across Bangladesh in Solidarity with Palestine

In response to Israel’s brutal massacre of Palestinians, various political parties, educational institutions, and social organizations in Bangladesh have expressed solidarity with the global strike called for by Palestinian national and Islamic groups. These groups have condemned Israel’s aggression in Gaza and called for a worldwide protest.
On Monday (April 7), protests have been scheduled across the country. Political parties such as Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizens’ Party, Islamic Movement, Hefazat-e-Islam, as well as student organizations including the Bangladesh Democratic Students’ Council, Chhatra Dal, and Chhatra Shibir have already announced their participation in these demonstrations.
The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) will hold a protest march at 5 pm from the National Museum in Shahbagh, Dhaka, against Israel’s aggression in Gaza and India’s proposed Wakf Amendment Bill. Jamaat-e-Islami has also announced protests in various locations, with a demonstration planned at 4 pm in Mohakhali by their North Dhaka city branch and at 5 pm in Baitul Mukarram by their South Dhaka city branch.
Additionally, protests have been called by various university students, including those at the University of Dhaka, and private institutions like ULAB and IUBAT. A march is also scheduled at 11:30 am at Jatrabari by a collective of clerics, while at the same time, a protest march will begin in front of North South University by a group of private universities.
Following the Zuhr prayer, a protest will be held at the gate of Baitul Mukarram by the National Ulama Mashaykh Imaam Parishad. At 3:30 pm, a protest will take place in front of the National Press Club by Khilafate Majlis. Additionally, a march will be held at 4 pm in Mirpur 10 Circle.
On Sunday, April 6, Chhatra Dal also strongly condemned the Israeli massacre in Gaza and Rafah, expressing solidarity with Palestine. The group has called for a sit-in protest with black cloths at all educational institutions across the country on April 8 at 10:30 am.
