BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has condemned the killing of Azizur Rahman, also known as Musabbir, former General Secretary of the Dhaka North Metropolitan Volunteer League, calling it a deliberate attempt to embarrass the government.

Mirza Fakhrul said the country is witnessing orchestrated efforts to create instability, with this brutal killing being a stark manifestation of that plan. He added that such acts of violence put the nation’s law and order at serious risk and increase insecurity among ordinary citizens.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night around 8:30 PM in a lane behind Star Kabab in Tejturi Bazar, Tejgaon, where Azizur Rahman was shot dead. Expressing grief over the incident on Thursday, the BNP Secretary General strongly condemned the attack, expressing deep concern over the situation.

He stated that after the fall of the autocratic Awami League regime through the students’ and public movements, criminal elements have been trying to exploit chaos and create instability in the country. The killing of Azizur Rahman reflects the brutal outcome of these malicious activities.

Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that such heinous acts are being repeated to put the interim government in a difficult position. He called for firm action against the perpetrators and urged people from all walks of life, regardless of party affiliation, to unite to protect democracy, uphold the people’s right to vote, and safeguard lives and property. Otherwise, he warned, allies of the Awami League’s authoritarian elements could threaten the country’s very existence.

He added that violence like this severely endangers law and order and heightens public insecurity, and stressed that all attempts to destabilize the state must be firmly resisted through unity.

In his statement, Mirza Fakhrul demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for Azizur Rahman’s murder. He also prayed for the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
