One Pharma Ltd., a rising player in Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical sector, is set to mark a new milestone in expanding its export footprint. Currently exporting to three countries, the company plans to enter 10 additional markets within the next three years and has announced a new investment of around BDT 500 crore to support this goal.
At a press conference held on Friday, the company revealed its intention to broaden exports beyond pharmaceuticals to include agricultural products as well. One Pharma’s chairperson, Nazmun Nahar, stated that the company is already meeting domestic demand and exporting to countries like Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. Talks are also underway to begin exports to Algeria and other underdeveloped African nations.
In a major move to diversify its pharmaceutical line, One Pharma is setting up a biotech facility to manufacture cancer drugs. Some equipment has already been installed, with further imports in progress. Once operational, this facility will enable the company to supply affordable cancer medication domestically and open doors to international markets, including the U.S.
Founded in 2015 in Bogura’s BSCIC Industrial Area, the company now employs 200 workers and produces over a hundred generic drugs. According to Chief Operating Officer Ishtiaq Ahmed, One Pharma began exporting in 2018 and shipped products worth $2 million to Afghanistan in 2024, with a $3 million order pipeline. Exports to Myanmar have already reached $50,000, and a shipment has been ordered by Sri Lanka.
He also mentioned that the company is aiming to export to 100 countries in the long term, with a current annual turnover between BDT 150 to 180 crore and a 61% growth rate last year.
The company operates under the National Agricare Group, known for its contributions to high-yield seed production in Bangladesh since 2002. One Pharma’s Head of Business Development, Abul Hasan, noted their latest innovation—a powder-free, water-disposable granular pesticide branded as Splendor—has gained popularity for being safer and easier to use.
As per the Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries, the country currently has over 269 pharmaceutical factories, with 164 actively producing more than 8,000 types of medicines across 5,000 brands. One Pharma’s growth marks a promising development in both pharmaceutical exports and biotech innovation from Bangladesh.
