The price of gold in Bangladesh has been increased again following the latest adjustment. As of Wednesday, June 11, gold is being sold in the local market at the newly revised rates. Silver prices have also been adjusted accordingly.

On June 5, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the price hike, increasing gold prices by BDT 2,415 per bhori (11.664 grams). According to the updated rates, the price of 22-carat gold now stands at BDT 172,336 per bhori. For 21-carat gold, the price is BDT 164,497 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at BDT 140,994 per bhori. Gold sold under the traditional method is now priced at BDT 116,640 per bhori.

BAJUS also stated that a 5% government-mandated VAT and a minimum 6% making charge set by the association must be added to the base price. However, the making charge may vary based on the design and quality of the jewelry.

Previously, on May 21, BAJUS adjusted gold prices, increasing the price by BDT 2,823 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat gold at BDT 169,921 per bhori, effective from May 22.

So far this year, gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 37 times, with 25 price hikes and 12 reductions. In 2024, the price was adjusted 62 times, with increases on 35 occasions and decreases on 27.

While gold prices have risen, silver prices in the local market remain unchanged. Currently, 22-carat silver is sold at BDT 2,811 per bhori, 21-carat at BDT 2,683 per bhori, 18-carat at BDT 2,298 per bhori, and traditional method silver at BDT 1,726 per bhori.
