Train services across Bangladesh resumed this morning after a suspension of over 26 hours, as train drivers and railway staff ended their strike early today. Bangladesh Railway Director General Afzal Hossain confirmed that operations had restarted but noted that some trains might face delays as staffers return to their workstations.

The first train to depart after the strike was the Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express, which left Kamalapur Station at 6:30 am, according to Station Master Anwar Hossain. By 10:15 am, around ten trains had already departed, though some were still running behind schedule.

Mojibur Rahman, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Railway Running Staff and Sramik Karmachari Union, announced the strike’s withdrawal at 2:45 am following a meeting at the residence of the railway adviser on Minto Road. The decision came after Railways Ministry Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan assured them that their demands, including special allowances after retirement, would be addressed. The meeting was attended by railway staff leaders, government officials, student representatives, and a BNP leader.
