Bangladesh began cautiously in the morning with openers Shadman Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who avoided taking unnecessary risks against Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani. However, Shadman lost rhythm early, edging Victor Nyauchi’s good length delivery to the gully for 12 runs off 23 balls. The opening partnership yielded 31 runs in 8.3 overs. Nyauchi struck again soon after, dismissing Joy for 14 off 35 balls, caught behind off another delivery outside off-stump.

Following the early blows, Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto stabilized the innings, forming a solid 52-run stand off 77 balls before lunch, despite a brief rain interruption. Resuming play after lunch, the duo batted confidently until Shanto fell for 40 runs off 69 balls, slicing Muzarabani’s short delivery to backward point. Mominul then paired with Mushfiqur Rahim, but the latter departed for just 4 runs off 18 balls, miscuing a pull shot off Wellington Masakadza.

Mominul reached his 22nd Test fifty with a boundary through the slips off Muzarabani and followed it with a pulled six. However, he fell shortly after for 56, caught by Madhevere off Masakadza. The middle-order collapse continued as Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1), Taijul Islam (3), and others failed to resist the Zimbabwean bowling attack, particularly the short-ball barrage from Muzarabani. Bangladesh lost three wickets for just 14 runs during this phase.

Zakir Ali and Hasan Mahmud attempted to rebuild with a 41-run stand, but Muzarabani bowled out Hasan for 19. Zakir, who scored 28 off 59 balls, was dismissed attempting a lofted shot against Madhevere. The innings ended with Nahid Rana being bowled by the same bowler, as Bangladesh managed 150 in 48.3 overs, losing 10 wickets for 119 runs after the initial 31-run start.
