Real Madrid are enduring a tough season. After crashing out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals, they remain in the title race for La Liga and the Copa del Rey—but even the most optimistic fans are doubtful about their chances, especially with Barcelona in red-hot form. The situation has been made worse by a growing injury crisis, with Eduardo Camavinga now the latest name added to the list. The French midfielder suffered a torn tendon in his left abductor muscle, effectively ruling him out for the rest of the season and casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming Club World Cup in June.

During Wednesday night’s match against Getafe at the Coliseum, Real narrowly secured a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Arda Güler. However, the win came at a heavy cost. Camavinga, who was subbed off at halftime, was later confirmed to have sustained a serious injury. Coach Carlo Ancelotti initially suspected it was more than just a minor issue, and the club has since revealed the severity of the damage. Recovery from such an injury typically requires a lengthy rehabilitation period, and sources suggest he could be sidelined for up to three months.

This injury blow is especially painful for Real ahead of their Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, scheduled for April 26. With Ferland Mendy and David Alaba also out, Ancelotti had been considering Camavinga as a potential left-back option. Now, Fran García remains the only available choice, and there’s concern within the Madrid camp about how well he can contain Barça’s in-form winger, Lamine Yamal.
