Train ticket sales kick off for Eid travelers

To facilitate travel for homebound passengers ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, advance train ticket sales began today, Friday. Online ticket sales started at 8:00 AM, with tickets for intercity trains in the western region being made available in the morning. Advance tickets for intercity trains will be sold under a special arrangement for seven days.

 

Additionally, ticket sales for intercity trains in the eastern region will commence at 2:00 PM. As in previous years, all intercity train tickets will be sold exclusively online for passengers’ convenience.

 

Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Station Master of Dhaka Railway Station (Kamalapur), confirmed that the western region’s intercity train tickets were released at 8:00 AM, while ticket sales for the eastern region’s trains will begin at 2:00 PM. He reiterated that, like previous years, 100% of the tickets would be available online.

 

Bangladesh Railway has decided to sell advance tickets based on an estimated Eid-ul-Fitr date of April 1. According to the schedule, tickets for March 24 will be available on March 14, tickets for March 25 on March 15, tickets for March 26 on March 16, tickets for March 27 on March 17, tickets for March 28 on March 18, tickets for March 29 on March 19, and tickets for March 30 on March 20.

 

It has also been announced that tickets for March 31, April 1, and April 2 may be sold depending on the sighting of the moon. Additionally, upon passenger request, 25% of the tickets will be available from the departure station before the journey. Each passenger is allowed to purchase advance tickets only once, with a maximum of four seats per purchase. Tickets are non-refundable.
