Gold prices in Bangladesh have been raised once again, with the new rates taking effect today (Thursday, September 4). Silver prices, however, remain unchanged.
According to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), gold prices have been increased by Tk 3,044 per bhori (11.664 grams).
With the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk 178,832 per bhori, marking the highest price for gold in the country’s history.
Meanwhile, 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk 170,703 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 146,313 per bhori, and traditional-standard gold at Tk 121,166 per bhori.
BAJUS also stated in its notice that buyers must pay the government-mandated 5% VAT along with a minimum 6% making charge, which may vary depending on the jewelry’s design and craftsmanship.
Just two days earlier, on September 1, gold prices had been raised by Tk 1,470 per bhori, pushing the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 175,788 per bhori. That adjustment came into effect on September 2.
