Bangladesh’s inflation rate dipped slightly in August, standing at 8.29 percent compared to 8.55 percent in July, according to figures released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The moderation was largely the result of a slowdown in non-food price growth, though the cost of food items continued to edge higher.

Food inflation, a key pressure point for low-income families, rose marginally to 8.60 percent in August, up from 8.56 percent the previous month.

In contrast, non-food inflation recorded a sharper fall, easing to 8.90 percent in August from 9.38 percent in July.
